Light and sleep gear, graded against the research

Circadian products that change the light you see.

Sunlight first: morning daylight outdoors is free and far brighter than any device. For the gaps, such as dark winter mornings, bright evenings and city bedrooms, we compare sunrise alarms, light therapy lamps, blue-light blockers, blackout curtains and the rest on the specs that matter for your clock, and we say plainly when the evidence is thin.

Right nowBright light in the morning, dim light after dark.

How to read a grade

Every category and guide carries one letter. It rates the research, not the brand.

AStrong evidence
Several randomized trials or a meta-analysis agree. Example: bright light for seasonal depression.
BGood evidence
Good trials exist but are small, short or not all in the same direction.
CMixed evidence
A few small studies, mostly lab-based, or results that conflict.
DWeak evidence
Little or no good human evidence, or good evidence that it does not work.
