Good

  • Same deep amber Sleep lens as the Classic, backed by a published Colts Laboratories curve
  • Two sizes with full measurements, so you can check against your own frames before buying
  • Keeps your own prescription, including progressives, with no custom lenses to pay for

Not so good

  • $150 to $160 is steep next to the $16 Uvex Skyper or its over-glasses version
  • Not a wraparound, so light can still reach the eye from the sides
  • The Large size was out of stock when checked

The Fitover puts Swanwick’s deep amber Sleep lens in a frame big enough to wear over prescription glasses or readers. Swanwick describes it with the same CR-39 lens and the same 99%-to-500-nm claim as the Sleep Swannies Classic. The lab figures here, the Colts Laboratories curve and the independent 95% melanopic cut, were measured on Swanwick’s Sleep lens rather than on this specific frame.

Fit is the main thing to check. The Regular size has a 60 mm lens and is 140 mm wide; the Large has a 65 mm lens and is 150 mm wide. Compare these numbers with the width and lens size of your own frames before buying.

The big advantage over a prescription pair is cost and flexibility. You keep your existing lenses, progressives included, and pay $159.99 for the Regular with a case or $149.99 for the Large without one, rather than a frame plus custom lenses. Non-prescription Swannies have a 30-day money-back guarantee.

The weak point is coverage. This is a large front frame, not a wraparound with side shields, so some light reaches the eye from the sides. If that matters more to you than looks, Uvex’s over-glasses S0360X with the SCT-Orange tint was the model researchers gave to participants who wore glasses, at a fraction of the price.
