Slip Pure Silk Sleep Mask

Slip’s classic mask is a flat rectangle of silk with a silk filler and internal liner. Slip says its slipsilk is 22-momme, grade 6A long-fiber mulberry silk. Momme is a measure of silk weight.

This mask ranks last here because the category is about blocking light, and the classic mask is not built for that. It is flat, has no eye cups or nose padding, and Slip’s product page makes no claim about darkness. Slip sells two other styles for that job: Contour masks ($79 and up), which Slip markets as keeping clear of the lashes, and Blockout masks. The classic mask’s page does not state the strap size or whether it adjusts.

Care is strict. Slip says to hand wash in cold water with a gentle pH-neutral detergent, never machine wash, and air dry in the shade without tumble drying.

At $72 you are paying for the fabric. If you want silk on your face and also want the room properly dark, the Alaska Bear silk mask adds a shaped foam core and a raised nose curve for about $10. If darkness is the priority, a contoured mask such as the Manta Sleep Mask does more for the money. The Slip makes most sense if your bedroom is already dark, for example with blackout curtains, and you want a mask mainly for comfort.
